COURSES

Class times are based on your need and availability. We specialize in concierge education for medical professionals and those pursuing training in community wellness such as bloodborne pathogens and first aid. All classes require the purchase of the class text. Certification cards are issued electronically.*

 

We are willing to travel throughout South Texas for classes of 5 or more students. Additionally, we will gladly accommodate corporate contracts, ensuring all of your team receives the highest quality of standardized education.

Basic Life Support (BLS)              $50

BLS trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. The course reflects science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Skills include:

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants

  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components

  • Important early use of an AED

  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device

  • Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation, performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR

  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Heartsaver CPR with AED            $65

The Heartsaver First Aid course trains participants first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. It reflects science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and the 2015 AHA/Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid.

 

The AHA Heartsaver First Aid Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

 

Skills covered include: 

  • First aid basics

  • Medical emergencies

  • Injury emergencies

  • Environmental emergencies

  • Preventing illness and injury

Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)        $150

ACLS builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. The course reflects science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response.

Skills include: 

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED

  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest

  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia

  • Airway management

  • Related pharmacology

  • Management of ACS and stroke

  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Heartsaver CPR w/AED First Aid  $75

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course trains participants to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. It reflects science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

 

The course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.

 

Skills covered include:

  • First aid basics

  • Medical emergencies

  • Injury emergencies

  • Environmental emergencies

  • Preventing illness and injury

  • Adult CPR and AED use

  • Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies

  • Modules in child CPR AED & infant CPR

Pediatric
Advanced Life Support (PALS)        $150

PALS aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills.

This course is designed for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

Skills include: 

  • High‐quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) per AHA BLS recommendations

  • Differentiate between patients who do/do not require immediate intervention

  • Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early and begin CPR within 10 seconds

  • Apply team dynamics

  • Differentiate: respiratory distress and failure

  • Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure

  • Differentiate between types of shock and perform early interventions for the treatment of shock

  • Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias

  • Describe clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias

  • Implement post–cardiac arrest management

Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens $40

The Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens course teaches students how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. It is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. The course reflects science and education from the AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

 

The AHA Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course is designed for anyone with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as: Correctional Officers, Childcare workers, Security guards, Maintenance workers, School personnel, Hotel housekeepers, Health and fitness club staff, and Tattoo artists.

 

Skills covered include:

  • Protect themselves from blood or blood-containing materials

  • Act quickly and safely

  • Clean the area that has blood or blood-containing materials

  • Tell their supervisor about the incident
